Retire and travel to Ireland?
Rita McCabe retired in November, 2004 after 18 years of service to Falvey Memorial Library. Rita began her career at Falvey in 1986 working in the Periodicals Department where she quickly became an integral part of the Library.
While still on staff at Falvey, she was asked to oversee the Reading Room in Bartley Hall where she stayed until 1997. When she returned to the Library, Rita joined the Technical Services Department where she placed orders for many of the books in the Library’s collection and also cataloged the books sent to the Library on the approval plan. Along with her various duties, Rita helped to keep the cataloging process moving smoothly and efficiently.
Rita was honored for her years of service at the Falvey Christmas party. She and her husband John reside in Havertown and have five sons and 13 grandchildren. Rita’s retirement plans include travel to her native Ireland to visit family in County Cavan. God speed, Rita, and, to quote the Irish blessing:
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
