Awards and accomplishments

Chris Schacke, student graphics assistant, Media Technology/Creative Design, is the recipient of a $12,000 scholarship from the Blue/White Foundation for academic year 2005-06. Candidates were selected as those who value and exemplify Roman Catholic values and who are committed to practicing in their own lives the Augustinian tradition of integrating faith and reason. Taken into account is overall academic performance, campus activities and involvement, as well as extracurricular merit and achievements. Although Chris is a senior nursing major, this is only his second year at VU as a transfer from University of Georgia. We’re proud to have him as one of our student staff.

Meghan Cassidy, student administrative assistant, MT/CD, was selected to serve as an intern for Senator Arlen Specter in his Philadelphia office, fall semester 2005. Meghan, a senior political science major, credits her receptionist skills from MT/CD as part of the reason she was chosen. We think her great grades and experience as an Admission recruiter played a factor.

Luisa Cywinski, the Access Services team leader, recently completed Villanova University’s year-long Young Leaders Seminar series, which offers training in higher education administration. The program, sponsored by OPTIR, is based on the idea “to bring together talented, young Villanova administrators and offer them in-depth administrative learning specially tailored to higher education." A certificate of achievement was awarded to those who completed all the sessions.
