“Wildcats Past and Present: Moments from the History of Sports at Villanova”
Basketball fans: Do you remember the 1985 NCAA men’s championship game? Relive the experience or learn more about the game by viewing the current exhibit, “Wildcats Past and Present.” Among the 11 display cases on the second floor of Falvey Memorial Library, one is entirely devoted to the championship game. The exhibit will be here until May 21, 2007.
The display items were culled from the University Archives and Falvey’s Special Collections. Included in the cases are old photos, tickets to games, score books, newspaper clippings, a telegram, schedules, cards, media guides and an issue of the Palestra Illustrated. Some items are autographed.
Football, baseball, track & field and basketball are all highlighted in their own individual cases. One colorful case is dedicated to women athletes over the years and another to prominent Villanova athletes, from 1950 graduate and Naismith Hall of Famer, Paul Arizin, to 2006 graduate and NBA rookie, Allan Ray.
Depictions of the Wildcat mascot over the years are shown in one case and another portrays the Wildcat spirit. Two display cases on the library's first floor will entice you to visit the complete exhibit on the second.
Bente Polites, Rev. Dennis Gallagher, O.S.A. and Teri Ann Incrovato worked together to assemble the exhibit.
