Class Poet Award 2006

Are you a senior? Are you a poet? If so, you could be named Class Poet of 2006!

The English department is sponsoring a contest for Senior Class Poet. Any senior may submit work for consideration. The winner will receive a $100 award and will be asked to read from the winning poems at an awards reception in the English department on Friday, May 5, and as part of the College of Arts and Science Medallion Ceremony on Saturday, May 20.

In celebration of National Poetry Month, students who submit work will have their poetry displayed in the Library and can participate in a poetry reading on Wednesday, April 26 at 4 p.m. The reading will also be open to other poets who wish to share their work.

The poems will be judged anonymously by an area poet whose name will be announced at the reception.

Guidelines:
Submit no more than five poems (ten page maximum) for consideration.

All submissions must be typed and stapled.

The name of the author should only appear on the cover letter and should not appear on the poems.

The cover letter should include the titles of the poems and contact information for the poet: name, address, phone number and email address.

Bring the poems to the English Department office, 402 SAC. E-mail submissions will not be accepted.

The deadline for submission is FRIDAY, March 31st, 5 p.m.

If you have any questions, contact the English department at 610-519-4630 or e-mail Dr. Lisa Sewell
