Bartley Business InfoCenter news

Our Falvey business liaison team of Michael Foight and Dan Overfield has been very active this semester. Between March 1 and April 26, at the Bartley Hall office in Room 2008, we answered over 153 questions, 123 of which were reference or in-depth instructional consultations. One third of the total questions (32.7%) were scheduled reference appointments made by students using our automatic online appointment scheduler. The convenient location in Bartley Hall also contributed to our accessibility, since 30% of our questions resulted from walk-in traffic.

The majority of the Standard Rate and Data Service (SRDS) Media Solutions titles are now available exclusively online. This move will allow greater access to these heavily used resources which provide data on nationwide media markets. Used in conjunction with the main SRDS title, which is the print Lifestyle Market Analyst (at the Falvey Information Desk), the media solutions data helps students to identify target markets, locate a specific type of consumer and get accurate advertising costs for almost any type of serial publication ranging from local newspapers to popular magazine titles.

In April we added links to the new and improved subject pages on the Bartley Business Information Center for accountancy, decision information technology, economics, finance, management and marketing. The new pages will help researchers identify and use the resources available in a more organized fashion.
