Open mike poetry reading in Falvey
Entrants for Senior Class Poet and others participated in an open mike poetry reading in Falvey on April 26. Some of the poets sharing their work are currently published in Arthology, the University literary magazine.
Dr. Lisa Sewell, English department poetry instructor, read from her new book, Name Withheld, and Joe Lucia, University librarian and poet, contributed a reading to the occasion as well.
Fifteen seniors have one of their poems posted prominently on columns throughout the library’s first floor. The Senior Class Poet will be named at the English department awards reception Friday, May 5, and will also participate in the College of Arts and Sciences Medallion Ceremony on Saturday, May 20.
The open mike reading, commemorating National Poetry Month, was sponsored by the English department and Falvey Memorial Library.
